The Gion Matsuri Festival has already started this July 1 and continues until July 29 in Kyoto, Japan. How fun to be in a month long Kyoto Party.
It’s a way for craft guilds and merchant families to compete in to show off their wealth and taste. July 14-16 leading up to the parade the streets of Gion is limited to only foot traffic. Many people will be dressed in traditional yukata, playing games and feasting on snacks from vendors.
The elaborate float parades are on July 17 and July 24. Here is your chance to see a famous Geisha and Maiko.

Major festival events are southwest of Kyoto City Hall.

The Gion Matsuri Festival is one I would love to attend and wear the traditional yukata. The information provided may have changed so please recheck before attending.
