The Lotus Lantern Festival is held every year in honor of Buddha’s Birth.  For several weeks prior to the Lotus Lantern Festival, lotus shaped lanterns are hung across Seoul.  Such a beautiful site to see all the Temples with the hanging Lanterns.

At the Seoul Plaza the Lotus Lantern Festival kicks off with the lighting of the Jangeumdang [a large lantern that symbolizes Buddha’s Birth] .  There is a celebration with activities, that then leads to an amazing parade.

The Lotus Lantern Festival is flocked by people from all over the world and symbolizes everyone coming together.  The lightening of the lantern, symbolizes brightness in the people’s own hearts, as well as the world.
