Here are some Travel Tips Money that I have recently found to be very helpful for me on my expat adventure travels. There is nothing worse than being on your dream vacation and wham you can not access your credit or debit card. These few tips work for me and I follow the tips each time I plan my next trip.
Travel Tips Money
- Plan your banking in advance of your adventure travels. Decide if your going to use credit cards, bank cards or cash. We all need Money on our adventures.
- Call ahead to notify your bank of your travel dates and countries your visiting. Nothing worse than going abroad and your card gets cancelled or put on hold. Plan to call ahead a few days before departure and give a travel notice.
- International phone numbers for your cards in case you need to reach them. Most banks and card company’s have toll free international call numbers.
- Store a Back Up Card in a separate place in case you lose your main card. You don’t want to be abroad with no access to money.
- Research ahead to see what cards are used in that country. For instance some Europe merchants only accept smart cards that are encrypted with a personal chip or personal identification number which some US companies here don’t use yet. Also some places do not accept American Express Cards.
- Carry some cash in case your unable to use your card. This 1 Adventure Traveler likes to use cash. Less I have to worry about fraud.
- Know the currency exchange rate of the country your going to.
- Monitor your card accounts. Fraudulent charges can show up months later.
- If using an ATM for cash withdraws check for unnecessary equipment on the machine. Make sure the key board does not have a fake overlay on top, check the location where you put your card to be swiped isn’t loose and another device is inserted, and look for hidden cameras that can capture your pin number or card number. Plus keep an eye on the people around you.
- Plan Ahead.
No matter how diligent we are about protecting our bank/credit cards things can still happen. Hopefully with these Travel Tips Money you will have less worry and have more time for an adventure.
