I must admit I love trying out various options when I travel. I like the idea about Uber and believe the controversy has helped them with advertising. A lot of the taxi driver in Melbourne (where I’m currently staying) protested to get Uber banned but it didn’t work out in the end. Uber is here to stay.
Hi Barry,
Wow, Its good to hear there is Uber in Melbourne Australia. It’s very popular and I hope that people that didn’t realize it is International will use them. Like you said all this controversy will keep them in business. Uber is cheaper than Taxis and more reliable plus I like to see who is coming to pick me up.

So all my friends use Uber and rave about the app, I’ve not tried them out yet, but with your step by step I’m going to give it a try! Thanks for the post.
Thanks Garth,
Okay no excuse you can set this up in 5 min and start using Uber. 🙂 So much cheaper plus a great way to get from one place to another without driving. The latest rave 🙂

Yes, this is definitely sweeping the states. Most of my friends use Uber now and they love the fact they can pick the driver. A great alternative for sure!
Hi Lisa,
Yes the latest rave and cheaper way to get around town. Didn’t know you can pick your driver but did know they rate you. Such a great alternative transportation 🙂

I’ve actually yet to try Uber surprisingly, but it’s nice to see how simple it is to use and set up. I know it’s fairly widespread now but since I avoid taking taxis as much as possible, I haven’t had much chance to try it. Great advice.
Thanks David,
Yes, Uber is easy to use and I also avoid taking taxis as much as possible. Uber is cheaper to use and is nice to call up have them take you to a restaurant or pub, enjoy and then text again for a ride home all without driving. Some airports once you have landed can pick you up and take you to your destination. There is a link in the blog to see which cities allow Uber drivers into the airports.

This is really helpful! Uber just came to my city and my hubby has just signed up to be a driver. Looking forward to using it in our travels to reduce costs too!
Thanks Jenn,
Glad this was helpful and happy for your hubby to sign on to be a driver. So many drivers do this part time or I have heard they are on call 24 hours. wow. Great way to reduce cost and in some cities they will even bring food from restaurants to you. Glad their in your area.

I am a fan of Uber although I wasn’t aware that you can split the fare with your friends. Depending on the city you live in, using an Uber can be cheaper than a taxi. I recently found some people who weren’t aware of what Uber is so thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Thanks Oana,
I agree it is cheaper than a taxi and they arrive so much quicker. One of my Uber drivers said to spread the word about them so in asking people and couldn’t believe how many have never heard of or used uber. They can be used to go to a restaurant right down the street from your home. So convenient plus you pay with your phone and no cash is exchanged.

This is a fantastic idea, I love it! Your review is fabulous as well, I specifically liked “Watch your driver’s arrival, See his face, Know drivers name” I can just see myself waiting on the side of the road watching the driver pull up, looking at his little face and smiling because he is early/on time, asking his name and then thinking of you and this review 🙂 I will have a look at other international destinations as well just as you have mentioned! Thanks for bringing this great idea to my attention!
Thanks Angie,
lol that is exactly what I do is stand on the side of the road and do all those steps. A girl (woman) can’t be to careful. 🙂 I didn’t know that Uber was available in other cities internationally either until I did some research. I couldn’t pass up this blog since I have spoken to other travelers coming to the states and those that live here who have never heard of Uber. Of course think of me next time you take an Uber ride 🙂
