You have just arrived in Okpo, South Korea and you don’t know a soul. What are you going to do? Hopefully one of the expat men/women will take you by the arm while you walking down the street and help you find your way around. Maybe you have the time to do a little research before you arrive in town or you have been here awhile and didn’t know about these websites now is the time to take a look.
My list includes helpful Facebook from here in Okpo that other people have created to discuss food, school, items for sale, group meetings, trips planned, play dates for children and so much more. All that’s required to access the Facebook sites is to go to your Facebook Home page and in the search box type each Facebook group name and click the Enter Key. Once the Facebook page has loaded, click on, “Friend Request”. You will only have to do this request once. Then the moderator for that Facebook site will need to approve your request and once that is done, you are set to go and check out the latest happenings.
There are also some other Okpo websites links listed to buy western food online, organic food, subway maps, sites to see from at the subway stops and more. The list is not all inclusive and will be updated as new places become available or become known by me. If you have any other websites to add please leave me a comment and I will update. Happy internet surfing.

Hello,
Just started living in Okpo, do you know of any English Speaking doctors around the area?
Hi
Welcome to Okpo.
My suggestion for an English Speaking Doctor around the Okpo area would be to post that question on the Okpo International Mums Facebook page. That is a great Facebook page for resources if you have children or if you do not. I have heard and used a of a few doctors in Okpo that do speak English but do not know all of their names.
What I did find helpful was at Daewoo Hospital a Nurse name Ms. Park who is an English receptionist that will be your translator. She will set up appointments and help you with all your needs including translating to the doctor. Her desk is right as soon as you walk in the clinic front door which is located next to the Emergency Room entrance.
There are a few doctors that speak English at the Hospital Clinic.
Ms. Park 055-680-8282 Nurse
Dr. Lee Orthopedic Doctor (he is good and also worked in the US)
MS. ? Gynecologist
A Pharmacist that speaks English and is very helpful is in Okpo. He is located on Shopping Street in the 3rd block across from Daso. His Pharmacy has the pink name signs on both sides of his entrance doors. Ask someone there to explain which street is shopping street. Yes, we do have funny names for the streets.
Dr. Chung Office on Shopping Street has a female doctor there (name ?) that speaks English and is helpful. There are only 2 doctors in that office. I like to use the female doctor for basic medical needs. All you need to do is walk into the office give them your name by showing them it in writing usually with your residency card and ask for the woman doctor. No appointment is necessary. They give shots, write prescriptions and have a lab at that office. The cost of very reasonable.
The Doctors office is located a few doors down from the pharmacist across the street from Dasio. Pass the Pharmacy and walk up the fist set of stairs you come to that lead from the street. Walk to 2nd floor door is on the left. They are open 6 days a week with limited hours on Saturday.
I use the local doctor for basic medical needs and for infections or serious problems I go to Daewoo Hospital.
Hope this helps and enjoy your time in Okpo. Please take the time to view my other blogs on things to do on Geoje and in South Korea. Comments are always welcome and please feel free to share your experiences and any other great suggestions.

WOW, Thanks! That was a really great response with really good information. Thank you very much again, and I have browsed your blog and already saved several links to my favorites. I will be living here with my girlfriend for the next year and a half to two years consulting for DSME shipyard. My girlfriend is a teacher in the US and is looking for teaching jobs here. I am sure there will be some more questions about finding things in Okpo when she arrives and I will send her to your blog.
