World OceansΒ
Our World Oceans are special, so let us see how we can keep them safeΒ when we travel. Β The oceans are wide and vast and we know very little about them. Β The oceans are interconnected and take up almost 71% of the earths surface that has a total volume of 1.332 billion cubic kilometers.Β So now we will take a look at what the Ocean give us.
What the World Oceans Give US
Besides its beauty the ocean feeds millions of people. Β We must protect the oceans from over fishing, pollution, and removal of the mangroves. Β For those of us that are scuba divers know that coral is a living thing and fish are precious. Β Some snorkelers still need some education on the importance of our ocean reefs. Β It is up to everyone of us including this 1Adventure Traveler to take a stand to educate and protect our World Oceans.
Protect Our Ocean
You ask how can we help protect our Oceans when we travel. Β It is very easy by following these easy tips.Β Try not use plastic disposable bottles just take a re-useable water bottle to use.Β Remember to cut the plastic ring around soda cans so it does not wind up around the sea life necks. Β Do not use plastic bags, substitute with cloth bags.Β Sea life such as whales and sharks are washing up on shore with tons of trash in their stomachs.Β Also, please do not walk on the living coral reef and throw trash in the ocean. Β If we do just these few small things it will make a world of difference.Β Β
Here is a gallery of some of the beautiful coral and fish I’ve seen while scuba diving the world.

Great post! Every little bit helps! We like to pick up rubbish when we are travelling or in our on country! We just need to keep educating each other! Thanks for a great post!
Thanks Travel4lifeblog,
I agree, we just need to keep educating each other. Every little bit helps. Great tip to pick up rubbish when traveling and in our own country.

This is such an important message. Our oceans are so important and must be respected when travelling! Thank you so much for coming to Fly Away Friday! I hope to see you this Friday! π
Thanks Janine,
We must always love and protect our oceans π Thanks for having me at Fly Away Friday!
YES! Such a great message that everyone needs to read! The ocean is beautiful and it’s so important to do everything we can to save it. Thanks for sharing and joining Fly Away Friday, hope to see you again this week! xo
Thanks Kana,
Yes, if everyone just share a few easy tips to do while traveling to save the ocean will help. Happy to join Fly Away Friday and I will be back.

Great photos and an important subject too – oceans are so important to this planet and respecting them is so vital. Thanks for sharing and that dolphin has made me smile!
Thanks Alexei,
Happy the dolphin made you smile. My hope is if we just share a few tips on our travels to help save the ocean maybe we can save the sea life and reef.

Great post Steph, it’s definitely an important topic and you’ve provided some good thoughts on easy things we can do to lessen the impact.
Thanks David,
Not an easy topic to bring up when traveling to save our oceans. During my travels I try not to use plastic bottles which is hard since that is the only way to have fresh water. Hope we all share some tips.

This is an important post on saving the ocean, or keeping them clean at least. It saddens me in places like Africa where so much trash is lying next to the ocean with no plans to clean it up. It’s also important to respect the ocean from a scuba divers point of view, look but don’t touch!
Thanks Only By Land,
It is important. I have never been to Africa but in other countries visited, there are also lots of trash and sewage next to the ocean or going in it. Lets help spread the word!

This is beautiful. That dolphin smiling is the cutest. I lived on the beach in Florida for over 27 years, and I feel the same way you do. It’s devastating to see our oceans being destroyed with pollution and trash, and the best way we can help is to educate others. Inspirational post π
Thanks Scarlett,
Happy you liked my dolphin photo who was so cute. Glad you feel the same way about trying to save our oceans. Not easy to talk about or do on our travels but if we just spread the word it will help.

Beautiful photos, Stephanie. What a thought provoking post. We really should be more mindful of our oceans. We always use cloth bags for our groceries. Small steps towards a bigger goal.
Thanks Siddharth and Shruti,
The cloth bags you use is so helpful for groceries. I have seen a local community on an island stop selling plastic bags and make everyone use cloth. So it does work when we lead by example and spread the word π

I could probably watch a gallery with marine life all day! Wonderful fotos! And indeed, we all should take care of these natural wonders, so that this beauty could last! So true that the snorkelers and tourists in general still need more education! Thanks for sharing #feetdotravel
Thanks Anna,
I feel that if we spread the word about taking care of our Natural Wonders the word will spread. I like to pick up trash as I scuba dive. I feel that every little bit helps.

Hear hear! This is a message I am also passionate about and I echo your thoughts! It has been so sad to learn this week that 2/3rds of the Great Barrier Reef is now dead – that is astonishingly sad! It’s not just scuba divers that need to appreciate the ocean, everyone needs to and they need to know the impact they have by being reckless on land and how that affects the ocean i.e plastic straws/bags. Great stuff, pinned! #feetdotravel
Thanks Angie,
That is so sad to hear about 2/3rd of the Great Barrier Reef is dead. I agree everyone needs to save our oceans by just doing a few things by not buying plastic bottles, plastic bags and more mentioned in the article. If everyone spreads the word more people will help.
Happy Travels π
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pics, Stephanie. They send a clear message as to what is at stake through the neglect of our oceans.
Thanks Shona,
If everyone spreads the word then more people will help save our oceans and natural wonders. I have seen thousand of plastic bottles piled up at beautiful beaches around the world. I now have to remind myself to take a reusable water bottle on my travels. Its the little things that help.

Beautiful photographs and really highlights what we have to lose if we don’t all do our bit to protect them. I read the other day about the damage that has been done to the Great Barrier Reef by bleaching – just appalling. I always cut the plastic rings on cans after I saw what they can do to sea animals. I will also make sure to cut down on plastic bottle use. I use cloth bags as much as possible for my shopping too.
Thanks Tracy,
You are awesome by doing great practices to save our environment by cutting the plastic rings, using cloth bags and decreasing plastic bottle use. If we spread the word more people will help too. I am also so sad to hear about the bleaching on the GBR.
Happy Travels
I have recently heard that the Great Barrier Reef is currently being bleached and this makes me incredibly sad! Hope it can be reversed in the next few years! #feetdotravel
Hi Lolo,
It is so sad about the GBR. If everyone does just one thing to save the planet and spread the word more people will help.

Great post! The ocean is wonderful and is so essential to life! We do really need to appreciate it and respect it more than we do!
Thanks Jenn,
Your correct the ocean is wonderful and is essential to life. I hope more people will spread the word, do just the smallest thing to help save our earth.

Indeed great photos! Thanks for sharing it! God’s amazing creations! π
Thanks Avon,
I love the oceans and especially scuba diving and see all the amazing creatures from the living coral to all the fish and mammals. My goal is for people to take care of the ocean π
